Addiction is a chronic disease that can impact almost anyone. Men and women, young and old, from almost all economic backgrounds and all areas of society are impacted by addictions. For some people, these addictions steal their connections to work, family and friends. Other people, however, manage to keep the trappings of success even as they deal with serious addiction issues. For these people, high-end rehabilitation centers may provide a tailored approach that can break through the addiction and allow real healing to take place.
Why High-End Drug Rehab Is Successful
The concept of individuality and customization has become important in the field of addiction management. In fact, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reports that effective planning for substance abuse treatment begins with a discussion of the person’s:
- Cultural expectations surrounding drug and alcohol use
- Educational background
- Social support structures
- Employment status
- Financial status
The idea here is to link the person in treatment with others who are similar in some way. While two people who meet randomly might have an addiction in common, they may have very different ideas about politics, money or family structures. People with high incomes may have specific ideas about what constitutes good medical care, while people with lower incomes may have completely different views. While it might not matter if these two people disagree if they meet in the street or on a bus, it will matter if they live together in a rehabilitation facility. In fact, they may come to alienate one another when they talk.
Drug rehabilitation programs often rely upon peer support. In a SAMHSA blog entry regarding addiction treatment, authors define the importance in this way: “Peers encourage and engage other peers and provide each other with a vital sense of belonging, supportive relationships, valued roles, and community.” It’s easy to see why it would be so important to find peers who have much in common. They would understand one another’s stories with ease, and they would be able to support one another in an effective way. People who don’t have anything in common aside from addiction may not make effective peers.
In the United States, much of this sort of affinity runs along economic lines. People tend to affiliate with those from similar tax brackets. That’s where the idea of high-end drug rehabilitation was born. If typical drug rehabilitation programs are designed to meet the needs of, and be utilized by, people who may have severe financial, educational or housing difficulties, high-end rehabilitation programs are designed to meet the needs of, and be utilized by, people who have achieved success in life, yet have an addiction issue to deal with.

Executive Luxury Rehab Programs
While addiction issues may cause some people to lose their jobs and their income, other people may continue to work in successful positions even while their addiction issues rage inside. Executive luxury rehabilitation programs are designed to help these people recover from addiction.
Some standard treatment programs for addiction require people to surrender their computers, cell phones and other electronic devices when they enter treatment. The idea is to help people escape from their day-to-day lives so they can truly focus on their addiction issue and learn to live their lives in an entirely new way. While this might be ideal for some people, it can be a distressing thing for some executives to contemplate. Walking away from the job for 30 to 60 days could result in a serious career issue. It could even cause the person to lose that position altogether.
Executive luxury rehab programs allow people to work on a limited basis. They may be provided with an office and a few hours of privacy per day, so they can continue to keep in touch with the office while they work on their recovery. This can be incredibly important for these executives, and it can help to reinforce some of the lessons they are learning in recovery. As researchers writing in the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment point out, addiction therapies often encourage people to take charge and control their lives. This is a lesson people could put to use right away in their work, so by allowing them to work, these programs allow people to practice and strengthen their skills.

Elite Programs
Some people may not want to work, but they do want to be surrounded by beauty while they’re in treatment. There are many programs that can fulfill this need. These programs might provide:
- Landscaped grounds
- Professionally decorated interiors
- Award-winning cuisine
- Amenities such as golf, yoga or massage
The idea here is to keep the person calm and relaxed while treatment is ongoing. These people might be accustomed to the finer things in their homes, and living in a hospital or a clinic setting could be depressing, demoralizing or worse. By contrast, living in a beautiful facility with gorgeous amenities might seem comfortable to them, and they might be less likely to walk out and go home as a result.

Exclusive Programs
Some people are incredibly concerned over issues of privacy. They may have very public personas that they’re trying to protect, or they may be connected to people who have these sorts of public lives. Exclusive rehabilitation programs have sprung up across the country to help these people deal with their addiction issues in a completely private, exclusive way. While all addiction programs protect the privacy of their patients, exclusive programs may be located in far-away spots that are hard for photographers and reporters to find. They may also be protected by landscaping and security guards, so the patients can feel comfortable that they’re not being watched while they go through the treatment process.
Very little is publicized about the services these programs provide, due to their very exclusive nature, but it’s commonly known that celebrities and politicians use these sorts of programs when they need addiction assistance. It’s also known that these programs do provide the sort of glamor and luxury associated with other high-end rehabilitation programs.

Is It Always Expensive?
There is a common misconception that high-end, luxury rehabilitation programs are always expensive and that the person in treatment must pick up the tab all alone. The truth is, insurance programs will often pay for specific portions of care that have been proven effective in studies. These treatments might be covered, in part, by insurance:
- Medications used during detoxification
- Maintenance medications for specific addictions
- Individual therapy sessions
- Family therapy sessions
In addition, there are many high-end programs that aren’t, necessarily, expensive. In fact, some provide care that is comparable to the rates charged by hospitals and other medical institutions. Those that do provide care associated with a higher cost may also provide financing options to those who need help, and this isn’t an option that county clinics or hospitals always provide. In the end, the fear of high costs shouldn’t keep people from getting the treatment they need. It’s an obstacle that can be overcome in a variety of ways.

Finding the Right High-End Facility
While the surroundings and customization are important, the right high-end facility will also provide care that is rooted in science and designed to provide real help in the fight against addiction. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, this means that the programs should provide:
- Medications, if needed
- Behavioral therapy, to help change a person’s actions in response to cravings
- Mental health services, to address underlying trauma and illness
- Follow-up services that can help the person build upon the successes learned in treatment when that formal treatment program ends
In the end, this is a very personal decision a person in treatment will make in consultation with a medical professional and his/her family. With so many options available, it’s likely that the person can find just the right place to heal.
