Additional Alta Mira Services

We offer a number of additional recovery services to assist our clients both before and after the treatment experience, either directly through our own staff or approved clinical providers at an additional cost to our core recovery programs.

Interventions

We realize that there are times when the family and other loved ones are much more concerned about a person’s addiction than they are. We know how difficult it is to sit by and watch someone you love slowly and systematically destroy their lives, and feel helpless to do anything to stop.

The intervention process gives family members and friends an opportunity to interrupt their loved one’s addictive cycle before they experience another tragedy, heartbreak, fight or any other negative consequence.

We work with some of the best interventionists in the country. If you require this service, our intake team will promptly connect you with a qualified interventionist who can assist you. The fee for this service will be paid directly to the provider.

Detoxification

At Alta Mira we contract with licensed medical providers who have the ability to provide the most current and effective medical and clinical support for those clients experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

We can accommodate on-site detox for most clients, but for the more complicated and life-threatening withdrawal symptoms we will assist in coordinating hospitalization. If hospitalization is required, separate financial arrangements must be made with the hospital and the attending physician. All charges associated with a hospital detox will be the sole responsibility of the client. However, we will continue to supply clinical and therapeutic support during this phase of treatment at no charge.

For clients who are withdrawing from opiates such as heroin, methadone, oxycontin (oxycodone), vicodin (hydrocodone) and other similar narcotics, our medical providers typically utilize buprenorphine (Subutex, Suboxone) to manage symptoms. Buprenorphine is a synthetic opiate agonist medication that has been approved by the FDA for treatment of opiate addiction. It significantly minimizes the discomfort normally associated with withdrawal from opiates.

We will strongly encourage all clients seeking detox to complete a comprehensive treatment episode once they are medically stabilized, because drug detox alone is not recovery, only the entryway into recovery.

Identifying and managing withdrawal symptoms

Many individuals are not aware of the withdrawal symptoms consistent with their drug of choice and may not realize that the physical and psychological symptoms they are experiencing are actually related to the cessation of the drug use. Click here for a list of withdrawal symptoms for the most common drugs of abuse.  If you or your loved one is experiencing any of these symptoms, please seek assistance.

Post-treatment monitoring

Post-treatment monitoring is a service we offer Alta Mira alumni who either want additional structure and accountability after leaving treatment or need to document and verify their ongoing involvement in recovery activities.

Complying with workplace mandates

We frequently treat professionals such as physicians, attorneys, airline pilots and business executives. For these types of clients, employers often have concerns about their ability to maintain sobriety and may require their employees to track and document their recovery activities after rejoining the workplace. There may also be professional licenses that are at stake and verification of sobriety and attendance at recovery group meetings can be a requirement for return to work.

Easing family stress

There are also some clients who use this service to assist in marriage or other family related concerns. Monitoring is an effective way of providing a paper trail of recovery activities and abstinence. It can provide peace of mind to the client, their family and employer. Post treatment monitoring takes the family and the employer out of the role of “policing” the client.

All approved post-treatment monitoring services include the following:

  • A signed treatment contract that outlines post treatment recovery activities, including meetings, individual sessions, urine tests, etc.
  • Reporting protocols for non-compliance with terms of the contract
  • Random forensic urine testing, with a minimum of four per month for the first year
  • A minimum of three weekly documented 12 Step or other Self Help Support group attendance
  • Participation in at least one weekly facilitated therapy group
  • Minimum of at least one weekly individual session
  • Minimum of at least twice monthly meeting with the Monitor service provider
  • Monthly written progress reports to the designated employee representative or family member

Alta Mira provides post-treatment monitoring services directly for an additional fee. Out of state clients may be referred to a professional monitor and re-entry provider in their area, and we will maintain contact with that provider to provide continuity of service.
