The San Francisco area is home to a number of high-end drug treatment centers, most of which, Alta Mira included, offer inspiring views, comfortable rooms and a wealth of amenities. With an exceptionally qualified clinical team and a low staff-to-client ratio, we have sought to distinguish ourselves from other luxury treatment centers by providing a higher level of care—above and beyond the norm.
At Alta Mira, we understand that alcohol and drug addiction is a serious disease that can destroy lives and leave families, careers and relationships in ruins. With a healthy respect for the power of addiction, we marshal every resource at our disposal to help our clients get healthy and reclaim their independence.
Individual attention. Every Alta Mira client has a minimum of three private, in-depth therapy sessions every week, in addition to multiple group sessions. One-on-one therapy sessions are a driving factor in successful outcomes. And because our clients’ problems aren’t 9–5, neither are we. We provide counseling seven days a week and staff licensed therapists in the evenings and weekends.
Personalized care. In order to provide the most effective and personalized treatment, we conduct several psychological tests upon admittance, including the Millon Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic, (MBMD), Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, (MMPI), Detailed Assessment Post Traumatic Stress, (DAPTS). When indicated, we may also conduct neurofeedback testing and referenced EEG testing.
Dual diagnosis treatment. Most addictions stem from some underlying, often undiagnosed psychological disorder. We believe it is essential to treat the mental health diagnosis concurrently. At Alta Mira, residents with dual diagnoses receive dual treatment plans. Some San Francisco drug treatment centers only pay token attention to the additional diagnosis and the recovery rates are usually disappointing in those cases.
Relapse prevention. In our experience, relapse can be a part of the recovery process, not an indication of failure. In certain cases, however, some people find themselves relapsing over and over again. Whereas most treatment programs will take a client with chronic relapses and start them back on Recovery 101, we have developed a comprehensive program for chronic relapsers that targets and addresses the core issues specific to each client that contributes to pattern of relapse.
Group therapy. Twelve-step programs, while effective for many, are not for everyone. In addition to offering regular access to AA and NA meetings, we also believe it is important to give residents exposure to alternative support groups, such as SMART Recovery and LifeRing.
