Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment in California

Co-occurring disorders are prevalent but treatment for both is often lacking. Among the 21.5 million adults aged 18 or older in 2022 with a co-occurring mental illness and a substance use disorder in the past year, 59.1% received either substance use treatment or mental health treatment, and 40.9% received neither type of treatment. Your admissions specialist will conduct a preliminary phone assessment in which you share your reasons for seeking treatment, your current symptoms, medical and treatment history, and any other relevant information about your circumstances.

We also recommend arranging a tour of our facility to understand our program and how it will help you. When you decide to begin treatment with us, we choose an arrival date and reserve your spot. Additionally, we’ll send you an admissions package and guide you through the paperwork necessary to start treatment.

Finding the best care can be overwhelming for clients and families, especially with the complexities of insurance reimbursement. At our private pay facility, we provide programs and services that often exceed standard insurance coverage.

We’re here to help you maximize insurance reimbursement for all eligible services. We work with commercially funded plans from employers, individual policies, and healthcare exchange plans. We offer a free verification of benefits to assess potential reimbursement toward treatment costs

World-Class Clinical Programming for Addiction Treatment

Simply treating addiction symptoms isn’t enough; integrated co-occurring disorder treatment addresses all conditions a person faces simultaneously. We help you explore the role of alcohol and drugs in your life and understand their impact on you and your loved ones. You’ll play an active role in your recovery, gaining insight into the root causes of your addiction. Together, we’ll identify and replace triggers and create a continuing care plan to sustain sobriety.

All clients have access to our medically supervised detox, comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, a monthly 3-day family program, and a personalized treatment plan, which includes individual and group therapy, educational programs, holistic and experiential therapy, and peer support.

During your treatment, you’ll participate in a comprehensive clinical program, including:

A minimum of two individual sessions and an additional core session per week with a primary therapist
Daily group therapy (includes DBT skills, process groups, principles of recovery, and somatic awareness)
Neuropsychological and psychological assessments to better inform accurate diagnosis and advise medical recommendations
In-depth family engagement and the option for loved ones to attend multiple 3-day Family Programs
Experiential therapy (activities may include equine therapy, ropes courses, psychodrama, hikes, kayaking, ziplining, and excursions focused on recovery principles)
Rejuvenating holistic services (massage, yoga, acupuncture)
Four 3-day intensive workshops and four advanced 1-day workshops
Individual outings with our amazing Experiential Program Manager
Peer support groups (12-Step, SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery)
Access to local temporary sponsors for support through the early stages of treatment and recovery
Incorporation of supplemental evaluations/therapies through external providers as needed (EMDR, somatic experiencing, CBT, CBTi, process addictions, nutritional support, couples intensives, spiritual counseling, medical specialists)
